‘CLAIMED PROFESSIONALISM AND QUALITY BENCHMARKS’ - SO MUCH SPIN THAT NO ONE BELIEVES ANY MORE!

July 29, 2008 on 6:19 am | In General | Comments Off

SO MUCH SPIN THAT NO ONE BELIEVES ANY MORE!

It is a fact that no one – really, no one in the public space believes in the many statements and comments made by the nation’s leadership!

The reason – there is a huge chasm between political rhetoric, spin and reality!

Add this to the daily controversies, scandals and ‘twist and turns’ we have being having – who really believes?

So I will take with a huge spoon of salt the comments that the Health Ministry has set up a ‘Tack Force To Enhance Performance’ as part of efforts to reduce complaints from the public!

This despite the so called ‘task force’ being chaired by Health Ministry’s deputy secretary-general that have high hopes of ‘evaluating’ the level of corporate values among staff involving the three main elements of caring, professionalism and teamwork.

First of all – the principles like all other principles are noble but in reality how to entrench and practice them in an atmosphere where racism and politics – extreme politics takes root and controls all our actions and inactions for that matter!

I have been in the circuit of public policy initiatives, dispute redress mechanism and consumer advocacy for more than 3 decades and believe me – a large part of that addressing public complaints in government agencies and the MOH!

So enough to know that while I welcome the statement – it takes more than the political statement to get things and initiatives moving so that there will be real values practiced, restored dedication displayed, a commitment, towards excellence, professionalism and drive being the hallmark of the nations government agencies resulting in a delivery system that is entrenched in true professionalism not politics, racism and petty quarrels and under a ‘dark cloud of corruption!’

FIGHT AGAINST CORRUPTION TRUE OR SELECTIVE?

July 27, 2008 on 9:00 pm | In General | Comments Off

‘high maintenance cost sounds rather fishy!’

Brillant - the Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA) has detained eight Proton Perdana V6 Executive cars of Terengganu executive councillors (excos) and senior state officials in connection with its investigation into their high cost of maintenance.

Reports indicate that four were detained on Thursday and while the other four on Friday.

And the probe is essential and in the public interest as there are claims made that is being challenged by the car manufacturers that Perdana cars were ‘uneconomical to use because of the high maintenance costs?’

And certainly while the focus is on Terengganu - let us also have an independent proble along the same lines on the  RM4.6 billion Port Klang Free Zone alleged bailout, the RM500 million Monsoon Cup fiasco and the infamous RM250 million Islamic Civilisation Park scandal?

Come come - we should ‘not be selective’- lest the ‘evil satanic international media’ pick it up and tarnish Malaysian governance and zero tolerance and fight against corruption as ‘one big sham of the highest order!’

PAS CANNOT BE TRUSTED - PERIOD!

July 27, 2008 on 7:46 pm | In General | Comments Off

Several days before the last General Election of March 8th, I met several educated Malay professionals at a ‘Chinese halal restaurant’ in Section 5, Petaling Jaya, Selangor!

They recognized me and asked me to have ‘a cuppa’ with them and I did!

The topic was whom will we nominate in our area of TTDI Jaya, Shah Alam, Selangor,  where two opposition candidates stood – one from PAS and another from Keadilan!

To make the conversation short – they told me vote keadilan but reject PAS as they cannot be trusted – period!

But the fact remains, on March 8th this year thousands of non Malays voted PAS which won them many Parliament and state seats!

So now against the recent backdrops and claim of apparent ‘cracks’ beginning to emerge in the three-party opposition coalition Pakatan Rakyat’ I cannot but recollect the earlier warning!

Recent exposures have really raised issues pertaining to PAS’s credibility and sincerity!

I must agree with Uncle Karpal Singh’s insight that the assurance by PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang to Pakatan Rakyat partners namely - Parti Keadilan Rakyat and DAP that PAS will not abandon the alliance to join the BN, is not bona fide and is not supported by past events.

The reasons many:

  1. that PAS had talks with Umno to form a coalition government in Selangor.
  2. there were ‘talks’ under the umbrella of ‘sustaining Malay unity’ which was not revealed to the opposition coalition?
  3. Yesterday, PAS spiritual leader Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat suggested that UMNO and PAS be dissolved and a new party formed to unite all Malays. This indeed adds a ’new dimension’ to the equation all together!

To say that the recent revelations is startling is putting it mildly, as it has serious political implications in Selangor and Perak, and I expect Perak to fall back to the Barisan Nasional very soon!

Non Malays have made a serious mistake voting PAS and I trust this betrayal will give notice to them to be rather careful the next time with their vote!

NURSES SHORTAGE SHOWS HOW PAINFULLY INEFFECTIVE OUR PUBLIC HEALTH MANAGEMENT IS!

July 25, 2008 on 6:31 pm | In General | Comments Off

NURSES SHORTAGE SHOWS HOW PAINFULLY INEFFECTIVE OUR PUBLIC HEALTH MANAGEMENT IS!

It is a fact that nothing actually ‘works in Malaysia anymore!’

We are caught up with so much ‘political bullshit, schemes, conspiracies, attacks, back biting, chatting, bickering and plots within a plot’ – that what used to work and make us a fitting example of a rising third world democracy is fast crashing on the ‘altars of personal/political/racists greed and ambition!’

So whether it is the fuel hikes and the costs of living that is screwing up all our lives as the population ‘suffers and struggles’ to put food on the table while one segment of ‘made in Malaysia Morons’ see it fit to buy luxury cars using public funds at a time they should have known better, is all the more menacing!

It depicts the abusive and vulgar manner our politicians are ‘managing the country!’

Or worst still, when political parties are told to behave in one way while the same ‘self righteous buggers’ behave in another way by holding silent clandestine meetings with their ‘foes’ – and a ‘foe’ that has shown its true face so that in future we will not make a mistake of voting them in – period!

So in that kind of ‘political atmosphere’ I am not surprised to hear that there has been a ‘cock up’ with the apparent shortage of specialist nurses in our public hospitals!

And the result – we are unable to fully open their wards and intensive care units and offer specialty and sub-specialty services!

Did you realize that in our present health delivery system we had 73,613 nurses of various categories and grades in the country but only 40 per cent, or 29,445 had the necessary post-basic training?

Did you know that we are particularly short of nurses with post-basic training in new areas such as HIV counseling, genetic counseling and neuro-radiology intervention and to work in critical areas like the intensive care, coronary care, peri-operative care, neonatal care, pediatric care, emergency and traumatology, oncology, gerontology, renal area, orthopedic care and ophthalmology?

So the result is like I stated months ago – we are unable to open up all their wards and intensive care units as well as to expand their specialty and sub-specialty services.

We should not blame anyone but those tasked to administer and address this need!

Worst still – it would be stupid to try to blame those retiring from service for not remaining – why should they?

As long as we refuse to stare the ‘inefficiencies, the grievances and address racists tendencies frustrating those in service – this would remain the status quo!

You do not have to be a rocket scientist to know this truth!

We can bring in foreign nurses as we have done in terms of doctor shortages but is that the answer?

INDIAN GOVT SURVIVES NO CONFIDENCE VOTE! BRILLANT!

July 23, 2008 on 11:12 am | In General | Comments Off

‘a warm and well liked PM’

WITH VOTE WON INDIA SET TO BECOME STRONGER THAN EVER!

They faced the threat of a ‘no confidence vote’ bravely not like some cowards in ‘pretentious democracies’ using draconial and repressive laws and repressive actions of brute force to ward off dissent!

Certainly I am overjoyed and share my joy with my many friends in the Indian parliament, diplomatic and civil service!

Happy indeed that India’s Congress party-led government has survived a vote of confidence over a civilian nuclear deal with the US.

The government motion received 275 votes with 256 against!

Now with this hurdle and distraction put aside India should emulate China for faster growth in order to become an economic super power!

As far as the economy and the revised agricultural estimates go we are advised that the Indian economy will have a 9.1 percent growth in 2007-08, which will be interpreted as a success by all standards!

I am expected to be in India soon and look forward to interacting with my ‘many friends’ there on major developments in Indian politics, the economy, investments opportunities, trade and certainly ‘many Indian issues of common interests!’

In the meantime lets all have a ‘Masala tea’ in joy to celebrate that victory won!

As I had blogged on this matter for several years and more recently last week, I am extremely delighted to hear that Serbian security forces had captured Radovan Karadzic, the wartime Bosnian Serb leader accused of genocide!

Radovan a war criminal in my book has been on the run for the last 13 years from the UN war crimes tribunal.

July 17, 2008 on 3:08 pm | In General | Comments Off

‘experienced, articulate & well versed with issues!’

Yes - Res ipsa loquitur - the facts speak for themselves!

Truly - deputy premier  Najib Razak is an individual best positioned with wide experience and a track record to lead the nation as its sixth prime minister come June 2010.

Those who have had direct and intimate rapport with the deputy premier in handling national issues and problems that would crop up from time to time would understand what I am emphasising.

In all my past meetings with the deputy premier, I have always found him to be well-versed with the issues I brought before him and his advice and insights have always been fair, reasonable, strategic, well-positioned and results-orientated.

He takes time and patience to advice you and his advice is extremely sound and timely. And as such, I join the chorus and thrust of the former prime minister Mahathir Mohamad call that Najib is the ‘best positioned’ in having all the required traits to be Malaysia’s sixth prime minister.

And in view of the manifold problems the nation is facing be it involving global, political, economical and governance issues or discontent among the various communities and political parties, it is pertinent that Najib immediately focuses his attention on these matters.

In view of many new challengers and political happenings of late, it may be crucial and timely that he put in place a team of high-powered professionals to assist him to address and manage these many issues of state and of others politically created to derail his political career.

This is vital so that Najib’s energy and resources can be focused on matters of state and not be wasted addressing conspiracies and allegations that his many political enemies and others within have placed before him of late.

In fact, it is obvious that there is indeed a partnership of ‘black hands’ that have come together to pit him against not only unsubstantiated allegations but also to engage him in wasteful political tussles with former deputy prime minister Anwar Ibrahim.

It is so obvious there is a ‘black hand’ working behind the scenes to plan the political destruction and downfall of Najib and it nearly worked if not for vigilance.

It is a fact that Najib is well respected both in and out of the country. He is articulate and well- versed to address any issue locally or abroad on short notice. He has the experience and track record.

And he has done so with distinction and this is the reason why he should return to continue doing what he does best – managing the micro and macro issues the nation faces while allowing a special team of trusted professionals to address the various distractions strategically with credibility.

The year 2010 is not far away and time is of the essence. Najib has to act now to deal with the various new political shenanigans he faces in and out of the party to remain on course to be the nation’s sixth prime minister.

KEEPING THEM HONEST SERIES - TIME TO AMEND SECTION 377C OF THE PENAL CODE!

July 16, 2008 on 2:41 pm | In General | Comments Off

Is this for real in this age and time?

Section 377C of the Penal Code relates to ‘carnal intercourse against the order of nature’.

The said provision reads:

‘Any person who has sexual connection with another person by the introduction of any object into the vagina or anus of the other person shall be punished with imprisonment or a term which may extend to 20 years and shall also be liable to whipping.’

As far as I am concerned - this is a ‘common law misfit’ – a misfit that should have been put to rest or attended to by amendments a long time ago but not - because our ‘legal intelligentsia’ has had little time ‘being preoccupied’ and parliament – what can I say?

July 16, 2008 on 1:30 pm | In General | Comments Off

According to my ‘bats’ - police are outside former deputy prime minister Anwar Ibrahim’s house!

The ‘word’ is he will be arrested!

This is another very ’sad day’ in the history of this nation that had showed so much promise in the past!

Will there be ‘a rerun’ of the events of the ‘late nineties’ now with the economy of the nation crashing made worse by ‘global conditions?’

‘How and what’ will I tell my young son who loves his ‘Uncle Anwar’ from the time he was 4 years old - now 15?

Will ’employment, capital flight  and retrenchment’ soar to greater heights and investors flee?

Will the ’misfits, moron politicians and corrupt’ of the nation cause more turmoil in a nation that ‘once looked’ destined to be among the most progressive economies and nations in this region?

GRIDLOCKS NOT THE ANSWER TO ALL OUR POLITICAL CHALLENGERS!

July 16, 2008 on 12:46 am | In General | Comments Off

parliament building police blockade 140708 02

AUTHORITIES URGED NOT TO CREATE GRIDLOCKS WITHOUT PROPER INVESTIGATIONS!

As expected days before an ‘alleged demonstration’ on July 14 more than 12 entry points into the city were blocked!

As a result, the usual massive crawls that are witnessed even during ‘normal days’ were made completely unmanageable during the weekend and worst still, last Monday causing employees to arrive late for work, ambulances delayed, students’ sitting for examinations missing their schedule examinations and thank GOD no one suffered and died of a ‘heart attack’ or an unfortunate pregnant lady forced to deliver in their car!

Now presumably, ‘educated and intelligent people’ are telling us that the decision for that massive ‘overreaction’ was in the ‘public interest’ and due to ‘undisputed intelligence gathered’ that the country’s ‘new power brokers’ the opposition were planning to stage ‘massive demonstrations!’

And for that reason too, a court order was initiated and served on another politician warning him of severe consequences if he was to be within 5kms of the Malaysian Parliament!

The truth as we know it today is that there was absolutely no demonstration planned for Monday as the  authorities claimed leaving the proactive Minister of Home Affairs, Syed Hamid Albar, a very decent and honest man, issuing an apology!

But I am flabbergasted at members of the opposition when they shout ‘vulgarities or call names’ and this is not proper because as I indicated, Syed Hamid Albar is a fair man and if he is wrong he has no problems apologizing as he has but let us be well mannered about this!

When he was questioned he had clarified without ‘fear nor favor’ that he received ‘credible information’ from ‘an insider and tip-offs from text-messages and blog-posts!’

If indeed ‘mistakes were made’ – he was sorry and it takes a ‘big man’ to say that!

So a ‘painful and embarrassing lesson’ has been learnt from this unfortunate incident by all parties!

But the fact remains – that it was obvious that the authorities need to be more critical of such information in the future and not ‘over react’ when it comes to issues involving either the ‘opposition coalition’ or worst still, its leader, Anwar Ibrahim!

Perhaps, it is indication that all is not well but ‘fragile’ in the ‘corridors of power’ and among ‘those wanting to stay in power?’

Perhaps, the fear was the proposed ‘vote of no confidence’ would actually gain momentum and result in the collapse of the government!

But we will never know, would we?

But certainly we must admit that it was a fear that got everyone ‘on the defensive’, some running like ‘chickens without heads’ instead of addressing the issue professionally and with competence!

In the end for their incompetence, ordinary people were put to great difficulty, economic loss and tension!

The ‘golden rule’ remains that those expected to maintain ‘law and order’ must do so as professionals after collating reliable data, intelligence and be free from ‘political pressure’ exerted by ‘vulnerable and paranoid politicians’ interested only in their political survival rather than the good of the nation!

ANWAR SHABERY DEBATE - WELL DONE!

July 16, 2008 on 12:31 am | In General | Comments Off

anwar ibrahim and ahmad shabery cheek debate 150708 02

UNNECESSARY TO CREATE A CLIMATE OF FEAR & TENSION PRIOR TO DEBATE!   I give full credits to the organizer of this debate that pitted PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim and Information Minister Shabery Cheek!

It was well organized and all details were well look into.

The debate entitled ‘Form the government today, reduce fuel prices tomorrow’ was held at the Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka in Kuala Lumpur and well attended on an invitation basis!

It began at 9pm and lasted for one hour.

The debate was very informative with both speakers touching on a number of issues to drive home their point.

I had a ‘quick chat’ with the good minister post debate and congratulated him for taking a bold and positive move in encouraging such public discussion and discourse, which was all part of a vibrant democracy!

If ever there was a point of contention, I was totally flabbergasted at the morons who creating ‘a climate of siege’ and pushed me about initially preventing me from entering the said compound though I had a formal invitation.

Yes, I did tell off ‘these morons’ – who think that everyone who attends such a debate are all criminals or some undesirable element that they should push around!

anwar ibrahim and ahmad shabery cheek debate 150708 04Then there was a minority of ‘two well dressed thugs’ who abused the process in the debate hall by screaming out profanities and made reference to issues outside the ambit of the said debate!

I (seated right in white shirt with folded arms) recognized one and am saddened to know he heads a political organization as well but what type of a leader is he really?

How to ever become a first world country when you have such third rate mentality and characters?

But we cannot judge the day by these two incidents – it would be unhealthy!

I would say kudos to the Information Minister, Shabery Cheek for this new openness and we look forward to similar debates on other issues to be conduct in similar vein!

MUKHRIZ WHAT DID YOU THINK OF THAT INFAMOUS GESTURE?

Yes I read – that the Jerlun Member of Parliament, Mukhriz Mahathir described the move by opposition members to boycott the Dewan Rakyat sitting Monday as an exercise in futility!

While slamming the opposition for walking out - he went on to say Parliament was the August House, not a place to sulk or show emotion!

Brilliant – where were you Mukhriz when your Parliamentary colleague behaved worst than ‘a swine on stilts’ with that indecent hand gesture?

Was the ‘walkout’ on a point of principle worst off than that ‘obscene and vulgar gesture’ in the August house?

Perhaps, in this case, ‘the fruit did not fall far from the tree’ too did it – as – we see another example of ‘selective and self righteous prosecution’ at work!

TENGKU RAZALEIGH HAMZAH – IS HE THE MAN WHO CAN SAVE MALAYSIA?

Well respected 71 year old charismatic leader, Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah has vehemently objected to the ‘power handover pact’ between Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and his deputy Najib Razak, claiming it is unconstitutional to do so!

‘Ku Li’ as he is popular known feels that this call and handover is unconstitutional and it is not something that should be passed down from one leader to another!

Many may perhaps feel the ‘same sentiments’ and most importantly, the ‘vulgar point’ that ‘political warlords’ numbering less than 200 will be deciding for a nation of 27 million!

‘Mathematically’ it all just does not add up nor make sense but that is the Malaysian dilemma!

WAR CRIMINALS RADOVAN KARADZIC AND GORAN HADZIC MUST BE CAPTURED!

July 12, 2008 on 1:49 pm | In General | Comments Off

’ testimony that we have all failed to uphold justice!’

Yesterday I addressed the 13th anniversary of the Srebrenica Massacre of 1995 as we held vigils for the thousands of victims there and remembered that more could have been done by the international communities!

But the reality was - they did not as mighty nations that walk and rule planet earth had their own political war games, adventures, game plans and interest rather than the rather simplistic approach of people like us who want a wrong made right – period!

As such, while I sincerely welcome during this anniversary of that horrendous massacre - Serbia’s new justice minister promise that authorities will hunt down Gen. Ratko Mladic and other war crimes fugitives sought by a U.N. tribunal!

Yes indeed, Snezana Malovic did say that the arrest of Mladic, former Bosnian Serb political leader Radovan Karadzic and former Croatian Serb rebel leader Goran Hadzic was a “priority” for the new government.

The question is why is it taking such a long time for their capture?

After all - Mladic and Karadzic are sought on genocide charges by the U.N. tribunal in The Hague, Netherlands, for orchestrating the massacre of 8,000 Muslims from Srebrenica in July 1995.

The two have remained at large, despite international pressure on Serbia for their capture!

I have always ‘been suspicious’ of the claims of the previous governments in Belgrade that they were unable to locate the two!

I can only pray that this will be a thing of the past as the new pro-Western government — which took office this week — will step up the efforts.

The arrests must be fast tracked as must be of all found guilty of crimes against humanity or war crimes no matter who they are, where they are or what their excuses were!

This is the only way forward and to protect basic human values and we must be certain that politics of the day is not stronger than human values and sensitivity to right a great injustice and wrong!

I REMEMBER THE VICTIMS OF SREBRENICA MASSACRE OF 1995!

July 11, 2008 on 1:42 pm | In General | Comments Off

‘…..we remember and promise that justice will be done!’

I REMEMBER THE VICTIMS OF SREBRENICA MASSACRE OF 1995!

I wonder how many will remember the ‘tragedy and pain’ that this caused to family, friends, neighbors and the rest of the human civilization on planet earth?

Do you know there will be tens of thousands of Bosnian Muslims gathering at a commemoration of the 1995 Srebrenica massacre, when the remains of more than 300 newly identified victims will be buried?

‘Lessons have since not being learnt!’

And truly the funeral of 307 Muslims killed in Europe’s worst atrocity since World War II is to be held amid fears of ‘new’ possible anti-Muslim violence after a recent UN court ruling.

In that heinous crime of 1995, against humanity the said victims were aged between 15 and 84!

Their ‘remains’ were exhumed from mass graves after the end of Bosnia’s 1992-1995 war and identified by DNA and to be buried at a memorial just outside the eastern town!

I am advised that over 2,900 Srebrenica victims have been buried at the memorial built in 2003.

It is a really a ‘heartbreaking, painstaking and gruesome’ task where thousands of others are yet to be exhumed and identified in the area, where more than 60 mass graves have been uncovered.

It is a horrific scene like the holocaust, which cannot bring ‘peace nor closure’ to family members who have lost loved ones and whose lives have been utterly ‘fragmented and destroyed’ all in the ‘obsession and greed’ for power and racial supremacy!

And finally as we look back – for what end and in whose interest? What was achieved by these shenanigans of politics and war?

These ‘fanatics and racists’ whose presence we find in all countries and civilizations!

For the record, just after the war, Srebrenica has remained in the Serbs’ Republika Srpska which along with the Muslim-Croat Federation makes up post-war Bosnia.

We pray nothing like this will ever happen and today we remember those who were cruelly murdered that their souls will rest in peace!

Radovan Karadzic, the former Bosnian-Serb leader, is accused of having been responsible for running concentration-style detention camps, and the massacre at the NATO so-called safe haven of Srebrenica.

We however pray that those behind this crime against humanity will be charged for ‘war crimes and duly punished!’

There should be no escape for them no matter where they hid or who hides them!

KEEPING THEM HONEST - BLAME POLITICIANS NOT BLOGGERS!

July 11, 2008 on 10:32 am | In General | Comments Off

‘Malaysia deserves better!’

BLAME POLITICIANS NOT BLOGGERS!

It is a rather sad and depressing sight!

If our founding fathers, the late Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra or Tun Abdul Razak, our nation’s first and second Prime Ministers respectively was alive, I wonder what they would ‘say and feel’ at the manner the ‘political leadership of today’ had allowed our nation to come to a point, where no one actually believes the ‘official version neither government officials any longer!’

bung mokhtar 090708 carut lewd gesture rude parliament

Just look at the manner statements are politically twisted, how spins are positioned, national news portals, vernacular press and certain electronic media manipulate headlines tailored for a political agenda and at other times along racist lines and blatant lies and distortion or the ‘irresponsible and despicable behavior’ of elected representatives!

bung moktar radin“Yes, I did it but it is not what it means. Everybody has their own perception and it is not rude and it is not what people think it is,”

All of us have at one time or another witnessed how ‘political choir boys and girls’ and others having a ‘herd mentality’ have replaced what used to be a ‘silent’ yet commanding voice of ‘truth and reason’ as was spoken by any of our founding fathers!

The late Uncle Tan Chee Khoon - a very respected politician across all political divides! Our nation’s history shows then politicians were very respectful of each other despite being from different political divides!

Those were respectable days where those wanting to be politicians were far and few!

Though many were well qualified, unlike today where millions are spent by individuals who have a track record of ‘treachery, deceit, wrongdoing and plainly shenanigans all of them!’

And the only common denominator between them all being they are all eager to secure positions and political candidacy so that they can use their political power to accumulate more ill gotten wealth!

So when this is ‘the culture’ that is prevalent today are we not being hypocrites in accusing Malaysian bloggers as mediums of ‘disinformation, slander, treachery, lies, of distortion and chaos?’

Who started the slanders, the bickering, and the moral and spiritual decay?

Who is to blame for the plunder, for political abuse, unabated corruption, the episodes of billion ringgit scandals, bail outs and fiascos we have all witnessed?

As I write this text, I am reliably informed there are banners being put up by those who were rejected by voters in the state of Selangor giving the impression that Malays are being marginalized!

And if this is not enough the same rejected and politically bankrupt politicians who are also allegedly corrupt when they were in power are now creating more tensions over a simple administrative issue pertaining to the Central Area Reinforcement (CAR) project, involving the construction of a transmission lines!

Indeed even a simple issue is manipulated along racial lines!

It has become a ’secret recipe’ of sorts - when you want to climb the political ladder or want the media spotlight when you are irrelevant - turn racists and make racist statements!

It only continues to shows certainly how far the apples have indeed fallen from the tree but really who is taking notes?

It is all about political self perservation!

And we indeed ask again - is this the best we can do as a nation after over 50 years of independence?

If this is not ‘plain political lunacy’ and an attempt to create chaos between the various races in the country at a time ‘anxiety and tensions’ are high due to the fuel hikes and snowballing of prices of goods and services, I wonder what is!

We must remember that Malaysian are looking at higher petrol prices, transport charges, food prices, the erosion of purchasing power, of savings and the cutback of spending and healthcare making families vulnerable to all kinds of social disorientation and displacement!

It is easy to read ‘idealistic and lofty speeches’ written by professional speech writers and spin masters without really understanding what is written and what it all means in a country totally polarized by race, religion and now, various political divides!

Have we all pondered what it all means in a country now dominated by an on going ‘war of words and ridicule’ between a former Prime Minister and his successor or for that reason the resurrected allegations of sodomy or worst still, of alleged subversion of justice, lies, conspiracies and murder most foul that is making international headlines!

What does it all mean in a country where no one knows for sure if the various branches of government the executive, the Judiciary and the legislature are actually ‘separate and independent of each other’ as should be in any constitutional monarchy after over 22 years of Mahathirism!

The ‘signs of disintegration’ are plainly there to see despite official denials!

Where are we as compared to several of our South East Asian neighbors in view of development, economic progress, foreign development investments (FDI), inculcating nationalism, of tourist arrivals, of capital flight, of the numbers migrating and plan of actions addressing polarization?

Even after over fifty years of independence as a nation, we still have racist politicians slandering minority races as ‘immigrants!’

Despite official denial, the plain truth is today we are all very vulnerable and frightened and it is a sense of fear and anxiety that we did not have even during economic glooms of yesteryears, not even the time of the communist insurgency, the confrontation with Indonesia, when Singapore left or during the infamous dark days of May 13 upheavals!

And as long as politicians and the nation’s leadership are caught up in their own ‘political mind games’ and ‘constant bickering’ the situation will not change for the better!

They are simply distractions to strategic, sound and professional management of the country’s economic policies!

The glaring truth is we are all fed up and disgusted with policy flip-flops, glaring evidence of limited grasp of macroeconomic issues, cosmetic changes, and unrealized promises of proactive and accountable governance, of allegations that politicians, their family members and cronies are raiding the national treasury and enriching themselves!

In this wake, what the nation needs is a leader without any kind of political baggage who is willing to address the nation’s many woes with wisdom, impeccable integrity and ‘a plan of action’ along time lines to inject into the country, the kind of proactive reforms without ‘fear nor favor’ that will bring Malaysia back to her glory days!

BN’S INFAMOUS SON – BUNG MOKHTAR RADIN NOW DOES ABOUT TURN AND ADMITS IT!

AND CALLS POUR OUT FOR HIS SUSPENSION FROM PARLIAMENT!

Perhaps, it is always convenient to issue a denial first as a knee jerk reaction until you are sure there is indisputable evidence against you for corruption, abuse of power, raping an underage girl, marrying a royalty, or marrying across the border without the required legal provisions, deleting vital intelligence, documents and records and the ‘MOTHER OF ALL CRIMES’ - the brutal murder of a Mongolian beauty!

But one fact remains – he continues to ‘hoodwink all Malaysians’ when at one juncture he admits and in the same breathe he tries to justify the despicable act in an Islamic country’s Parliament in saying:

bung moktar radin“Yes, I did it but it is not what it means. Everybody has their own perception and it is not rude and it is not what people think it is,”

If this is not the height of been plain arrogant and irresponsible while making a mockery of all 26 million Malaysian, I wonder what is!

He has also ‘broken a promise’ he made the last time - to behave after the last fiasco!

Indeed, I wonder if he would have admitted if it was not ‘caught’ by camera?

But lucky for justice, truth and good governance – it was captured by RTM1 and seen by viewers all over Malaysia who called their respective MPs in shock and anger thereafter!

The commotion started 15 minutes into the telecast, when Entrepreneurial and Cooperative Development Minister Noh Omar was answering a question by Azan Ismail (PKR-Indera Mahkota).

‘will he take action or ‘close one eye?’

As I indicated in my earlier blog - I will wait to see what Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi does pertaining to this rather despicable act in the honorable August house representing Malaysian Parliamentary democracy?

I want to see if action, certainly punitive action is taken on this individual who has a ‘track record’ of doing the ‘most bizarre things’ in Parliament making a mockery of all things let alone of the Prime Minister’s image!

Or whether we indeed have ‘two sets of laws for the nation’ – one for BN and another for others outside that political divide!

After all, only hours earlier PM Abdullah had taken the rather ‘high moral ground’ - again,  as he attacked bloggers and others who dwelled in what he called blatant lies which he equates as treachery  - which all the pro-BN media groups took to town!

Now we will see ‘who walks the talk?’

BUNG MOKHTAR RADIN - NOTHING BUT AN EMBARRASSMENT TO BN AND PAK LAH!

He has done it again, after promising to behave after the last fiasco!

Indeed, Barisan Nasional backbencher Bung Mokhtar Radin (BN-Kinabatangan) was caught on camera making an obscene gesture in the Dewan Rakyat!

Like all politicians and others being accused either of corruption, abuse of power, raping an underage girl, marrying a royalty, or marrying across the border without the required legal provisions, deleting vital intelligence, documents and records, subverting the course of justice and the ‘MOTHER OF ALL CRIMES’ - the brutal murder of a Mongolian beauty - Altantuya Shaariibuu, this particular individual representing the good people of Kinabatangan also - DENIES!

It is true that the said ‘rude gesture’ went unnoticed on the big screen in the Dewan Rakyat itself, because the in-house cameras were not trained on him.

The commotion started 15 minutes into the telecast, when Entrepreneurial and Cooperative Development Minister Noh Omar was answering a question by Azan Ismail (PKR-Indera Mahkota).

And it is reported that many have also seen this ‘vulgar, despicable gesture’ over their TVs and this adds on to the question whether we have model individuals as our representatives in the country’s highest law making body?

I will wait to see what Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi does pertaining to this rather despicable act in the honorable August house representing Malaysian Parliamentary democracy?

I want to see if action, certainly punitive action is taken on this individual who has a track record of doing the most ‘bizarre and distasteful’ things in Parliament making a mockery of all things, let alone of the Prime Minister’s image!

Or whether the allegations are indeed true, that we indeed have ‘two sets of laws for the nation’ – one for BN and another for others outside that political divide!

After all, only hours earlier PM Abdullah had taken the rather ‘high moral ground’ - again,  as he attacked bloggers and others who dwelled in what he called blatant lies which he equates as treachery  - which all the pro-BN media groups took to town!

G8 NATIONS GETS TOGETHER FOR A FRIENDLY CHAT AND A TOTAL WASTE OF EVERYBODIES TIME!

July 8, 2008 on 11:27 pm | In General | Comments Off

‘ a forum to help the world or a self serving ‘chat group?’

G8 NATIONS GETS TOGETHER FOR A FRIENDLY CHAT AND A TOTAL WASTE OF EVERYBODIES TIME! G8 SHOULD BECOME G16 IN MY CALL!

Planet Earth’s most powerful nations called the ‘Group of 8’ comprising of eight industrialized economies — which includes the United States, Japan, Germany, Britain, France, Italy, Canada and Russia are meeting for a chat on various issues from greenhouse gas emissions, Iran, the fuel hikes and issues pertaining to Zimbabwe!

Truly wide ranging subjects but can they since absolutely all the leaders have their own ‘domestic problems’ back home!

President Bush is a ‘lame duck President’, Prime Minister Gordon Brown is most unpopular in his own country, the German Chancellor Angela Merkel has her own difficulties, Russia has a ‘new boy at the helm’, the other four all have simmering political fronts to address so exactly what is this ‘talk shop’ all about?

Already the manner the group has addressed the issue of Greenhouse emissions is irresponsible despite all the studies and statistics showing major environmental problems if we do not address global warming!

Instead of dating the reduction to 2020 they are talking about 2050!

But the reality is by the time we reach 2050 – we may have issues that are totally irreversible!

My humble view is first and for most the present composition of 8 countries making it a G8 is irrational!

It is time the membership be opened to several more countries to make their composition and addressing of international issue relevant, result orientated and vibrant!

There must be tangible discussion on issues like economic and development cooperation between the G8 and poor nations, the addressing of pertinent issues of human rights, racism, the marginalization of minority populations in all spheres of economic and religious life, ‘new forms and breeds of apartheid and supremacy policies by states’ and unjust national laws that spearheads racist ideologies!

And failing which they will be isolated and irrelevant to the rest of the world!

They should first start with expanding G8 to include EU, India, China, South Africa, Brazil, Korea, Mexico and Indonesia the world largest Muslim nation!

If they decide to address these with commitment, dedication and drive – certainly not G8 BUT G16 would become a formidable force to address all forms of global challengers!
